Crews reveal damage after Wem caravan 'fully alight'

Shocking images of a caravan destroyed by a fire in North Shropshire have been shared by emergency crews who attended the incident.

One caravan was fully alight following the incident at Northwood, near Wem, shortly before midnight on Saturday (December 27).

The incident saw crews from Wem and colleagues from Ellesmere in attendance.

The Ellesmere Fire Station crews shared images of the site the following morning on their Facebook page.

They said: "At 23.52 yesterday, we were mobilised with colleagues from Wem station to reports of a caravan fire in Northwood.

"On arrival crews found 1 caravan fully alight.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hosereel jets to extinguish the fire and, prior to leaving the incident, the remains were checked for hotspots using the thermal image camera."

They added that it was the second callout of the day for them, after being asked to assist with gaining entry to a home for the ambulance service in the morning.
