Work to fix vandalism at a sensory garden in Whitchurch is set to be completed.
Residents have been distressed after the “disrespectful” vandalism at the Harry Richards Garden left it closed to visitors in the run-up to Christmas.
The garden is a well-loved part of Jubilee Park and has a wall with stone hearts which allow people to commemorate those they have lost.
The garden has been closed for some time following damage to the water feature by vandals.

According to Whitchurch Town Council this has left the feature “unstable” which has forced it to be closed off for the safety of the public.
Whitchurch Town Council confirmed that the voluntary group We Are Whitchurch, which funded and installed the feature, has a repair in hand.
If not rectified soon, the feature may be removed temporarily, and the garden reopened to the general public.
The council stressed that “public safety needs to be a priority” and that they can arrange individual access for anyone wishing to visit the stone memorial hearts, housed within the Garden.
This can be done via their Reception Hub on 01948 665761 or email info@whitchurchtowncouncil.gov.uk.
Alternatively, visitors may see our Facilities Team on hand in the area, who will be “more than happy to help”.
