Search the Public Notice PortalSupermarket chain Lidl has revealed where it plans to build a new supermarket in Whitchurch, which the firm says would bring jobs to the town.
The supermarket giant has put forward a pre-planning proposal to move from its current home on Bridgwater Street.
The plans would see the Lidl store moved to a new purpose-built site just off the roundabout onto Tilstock road by the St John Talbot’s school campus.
In a message sent out to residents in the area the company said: “Lidl GB is consulting on plans to relocate its existing store in Whitchurch and build a new foodstore on land between Tilstock Road and the A525 Whitchurch By-pass.

“By relocating the store we can deliver a new modern foodstore, built to the latest Lidl specification, providing the best possible customer experience.”

The new store would see all current staff relocate to the new store, “in addition to creating new local jobs.”
The company said the move would create “new jobs for local people and improved working environment for our existing colleagues, who will move to the new store.
“Lidl GB starting rates for hourly-paid colleagues is £12.75, raising to £13.65 for length of service.”
The site would be “a high-quality new Lidl store” that would be designed to the “very latest specification”, including “modern in-store facilities like Lidl’s popular bakery, a 1,516 sq m sales area and customer toilets with baby changing facilities.”
There would also be a “115 customer car parking spaces including six accessible, nine parent and child bays, two rapid electric vehicle charging points and covered cycle spaces.”

Lidl added it has “an ongoing commitment to enhance the environmental sustainability of its stores. A range of technology is used in store to minimise energy use, such as heat recovery systems and air source heat pumps.
“Rapid electric vehicle charging bays are provided in the car park and solar panels on the roof would provide up to 30% of the store’s energy requirements.”
Lidl will be holding a public drop in at the Watergate Centre on Monday evening (June 23) to hear views from the public on the plans.
Anyone who wishes to have their say can attend between 3.30pm and 7pm.
