A SENIOR figure from a bowling club near Whitchurch where a man died last weekend has given condolences to his family.

Ged Brown was in his 60s and from around the Merseyside area and had come to Tilstock Bowling Club, in Tilstock Lane in the village, but died on the green after going into cardiac arrest while playing in the ‘Bandit Bowls’ series on Sunday, November 17.

Simon Fullard, from the club, said everyone present and later staff from the Midlands Air Ambulance and West Midlands Ambulance Service all tried to save Mr Brown’s life.

Simon said: “The club offers our most heartfelt condolences and wish the family of Mr Brown all the best during this difficult time.

“We hope during his final moments that he was shown great dignity and care from all of the people who came to play the games.

“This included people from all over the county and extended areas, who all came to play.

“We had the air ambulance called and ambulances from West Midlands too, and a lot of people tried to save him.

“The defibrillator was used and Mr Brown was also given CPR but despite everyone’s best efforts – including the paramedics – he sadly passed away.

“We obviously add that we hope that everyone who was at the club on Sunday and witnessed the incident are all ok and have been able to come to terms with what they saw.

“And we as a club also want to say a huge thank you to everyone that tried to come to his aide and save his life.”
