A DANGEROUS Whitchurch road junction that 'could kill someone' has to be addressed says town mayor Councillor Andy Hall.
Councillor Andy Hall has spoken out after emails asking for updates on a potential mini-roundabout serving Claypit Street, London Road and Brownlow Street, as part of a housing development plan, has not yet been built.
He says that traffic in that area, turning into both sides of Claypit Street has increased because of the Talbot Manor development in Alport Road and said that the min-roundabout for the troublesome junction is needed.

And he said he believes a lack of action could lead to a tragic event.
“It’s absolutely fair to say that someone, of any age, could get hit by a car going too fast or by one that is having to mount the kerb to get past other car,” he said.
“Without a doubt and it’s my biggest fear – we’ve seen so many near misses.”
He added: “I believe the roundabout should have gone in some time ago when the houses were being sold and occupied.

“There’s been a lot of near misses by Little Bears Nursery (in Claypit Street) where cars have been coming down the road and mounting the kerb and going past there.
“There have been accidents on the crossroads of Claypit Street and London Road and Shropshire Council has got to take on their responsibility.
“There’s an enforcement now on a planning application so why isn’t this being done?”
Cllr Hall also called on Shropshire Council to improve its communication output with councillors over issues of concern.
He added: “My further frustration is that I’m being fobbed off about it
“It’s been more than three weeks since they last got back to me and it feels like no-one is available at Shropshire Council to deal with anything.”
A spokesman for Shropshire Council said the work was being delayed over public safety fears and that plans were being drawn up again.
He said: “A mini-roundabout traffic management arrangement is due to be constructed at the at the junction of Claypit Street and London Road as part of a residential development by Wain Homes off Alport Road.

“Work was due to be carried out early this year by the developer’s contractor but an issue with the design was identified by the contractor that raised concerns relating to pedestrian safety.
“As a result a further design has now been submitted to Shropshire Council and that design is currently being assessed to ensure that highway and pedestrian safety is not compromised.
“Work will then be carried out.”
