AN OUTLINE application for a residential development to be built in Wem has been submitted to Shropshire Council.
The proposal is for Bridgefields, off Aston Road in Wem, and is close to Wem railway station with planners stating a new road from Harris Croft and also to Shawbury Road is planned.

A planning statement for the outline application said ‘there is a need for housing development in the town centre close to local amenities and services’ and that it lies in the ‘development boundary’.
It added that the area is one of ‘few available windfall sites’ and it indicated that further negotiations down the line with Network Rail could allow for the site to add a further 25 car parking spaces.

The statement also adds that the development could supplement the employment site earmarked for Shawbury Road.
It added: “There is currently an opportunity for this development to be delivered to the benefit of Wem.”
Consultation on the outline application will end on Friday, October 18.
