Emergency crews were called out to a road in Whitchurch after a single-car crash on Saturday.
Three crews from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident in Steel Road shortly before 8pm, but stood down when it was found that the driver was not trapped in the vehicle as had initially been believed.
West Mercia Police also attended the scene of the incident.
A statement posted online by Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service read: "At 19:52 on Saturday, August 3, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as a road traffic collision with persons trapped.
"Three fire appliances including the rescue tender were mobilised from Wellington, Wem and Whitchurch. An operations officer was in attendance.
"Incident involved a one-car road traffic collision, with no persons trapped. Incident left in hands of police."
The stop message, meaning no further assistance was required, was received at 8.05pm.
