Police had to issue a warning after an “extremely large swarm of bees” descended on Whitchurch.
West Mercia Police had to put out a warning to residents after officers stumbled across a huge swarm of the insects yesterday afternoon (June 2)
Two local officers were on patrol and had to put out a warning that there was a large amount of bees at the junction of Egerton Road and Gambrell Avenue.

In a statement shared on social media, a spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “During mobile patrol of Whitchurch town centre local Safer Neighbourhood Teams officers have come across an extremely large swarm of bees present on the junction of Egerton Road and Gambrell Avenue.”
Residents reacted to the news in surprise.
One person commented: “They are unlikely to harm you. They're just resting until they go to their new home. They are not interested in humans when they swarm.”
Another added: “They need protection not us.”
According to one commenter “At this time, they are searching for homes as swarms and stop for a rest occasionally.”
