Fire crews were called to the same property in Wem twice in one night to put out a fire.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue were called out to a shed fire yesterday evening (May 3) on Jubilee Square in Wem – only to return a few hours later.

The Wem crew were called out initially at around 8.20pm to what was classed as a “fire in the open” in Jubilee square.

When there the crews extinguished the fire which according had ignited in a shed at one of the properties in the square.

However, crews had to make a return visit in the early hours of this morning.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said: “At 3.49am on Saturday, May 4, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Fire in the Open in Wem.

“One fire appliance was mobilised from Wem.

“Crews used a Hosereel jet to tackle the fire. A Small fire in shed has been extinguished by Fire Service Personnel.”
