Southampton is set to welcome a new ship sailing from the city in May, as Celebrity Cruises' Apex ship will replace Silhouette.

Silhouette departed from Southampton for the final time in October 2023 and carried almost 200,000 passengers from the city in its time sailing from there.

Now Apex will homeport from the city for the entirety of its 2024 season, with many journeys planned between May and November this year.

On the Celebrity Cruises website, it says: "Our revolutionary Edge® series ship, Celebrity Apex®, will be sailing from Southampton for a full season starting May 2024 replacing Celebrity Silhouette. 

"We’ve curated some exciting itineraries that explore northern Europe and the Mediterranean, featuring visits to must-see places such as the Norwegian Fjords, Reykjavik, Arctic Circle, Ibiza, Lisbon, and Madeira."

How many passengers can Apex carry?

Celebrity Apex has a capacity of 3,405 passengers alongside 1,320 crew.

Where will Apex be sailing to in 2024?

Celebrity Apex will offer a mixture of four-to-13-night sailings between May and November 2024.

This will include voyages to the Norwegian Fjords, as well as other Scandinavian locations such as Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki and Tallinn.

Elsewhere, Apex will be stopping off at Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Iceland and Ireland.

This ranges from the Inside Stateroom described as a "comfortable home away from home" to the AquaClass which has a veranda and complimentary access to the SEA Thermal Suite in The Spa.

What to do on the Celebrity Apex

There are absolutely loads of things to do onboard the ship, with it housing a spa, casino, several swimming pools, a rooftop garden, a cantilevered, floating platform called 'The Magic Carpet' and plenty of shows on the ship's theatre.
