THE PROVISIONAL cause of Wrexham man Antony Gerald Derwent's death was revealed at an inquest opening today (Monday, April 22).

Mr Derwent, of Wheat Close, Gwersyllt, was sadly pronounced dead at his home shortly after 5.30am on April 7.

At County Hall in Ruthin on Monday, an inquest was opened into the 52-year-old's death.

John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said a pathologist's provisional cause of death following a post-mortem examination is airway obstruction due to blood inhalation, secondary to severe blunt force head and facial injuries.

Mr Gittins acknowledged that a man has been charged in connection with Mr Derwent's death and adjourned the inquest until a later date.
