WELCOME to another edition of bygones as we invite readers to enjoy some of the joys of the 1960s.
As you can see from our pictures it was a very different time to be alive in Powys.
All our readers are invited to share their own pictures from the past by emailing us at the address at the bottom of the page.
Our first picture shows Brook Street in Welshpool which was largely falling apart in 1962 and was regarded as a slum which was cleared in the same decade.
OTHER NEWS:
- Young woman sentenced for chasing man in street holding knife above her head
- Four Powys farmers chosen for prestigious leadership programme
- Powys pub up for sale after having the same owners for quarter of a century
Newtown firemen and their wives are pictured in 1966 in our next picture from the past.
Llanidloes Town Football Club players and management are pictured with the Montgomeryshire Cup in 1962.
Our next picture shows a day on an unknown Powys farm in 1965. The farmer’s name is Ivor Evans but we do not know any more details.
Our final picture shows derby action between Caersws and Newtown in 1967.
