A WEM woman had to visit the town’s fire station to ask for two rings to be cut off her hand after it began to swell up on Thursday.

The woman arrived at Wem Fire Station – in High Street – at around 11.25pm asking for help in removing the rings.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said firefighters were able to help her with her issue.

They said: “A female attended Wem Fire Station for removal of two rings from left hand due to excessive swelling.”

A stop message was sent to SFRS control at around 11.55pm when it was confirmed that no further support was needed.
