RESIDENTS of a Malpas care home have been treated to a culinary lesson thanks to its very own chef, who has a prestigious background.

Prospect House Care Home, in High Street in Malpas, was transformed into an interactive culinary studio by home chef Paul Wright, who provided an engaging afternoon filled with the aromas of sizzling beef and sweet sauces.

The cooking event, spearheaded by chef Paul, brought together residents for a cooking demonstration that centred around the creation of crispy beef in two tantalising variations – sweet chilli and hoisin sauce.

Sarah Stroud, the manager at Prospect House, expressed her gratitude towards chef Paul for his initiative.

"Thank you to Paul for taking the time to share his skills in an accessible way,” she said.

“It was great fun not to mention very tasty. Everyone certainly enjoyed getting involved and sampling the final dish.”

Sarah also highlighted the event's success in ‘bringing joy and a sense of community to the residents’.

Prospect House residents were not just spectators but active participants, assisting in slicing key ingredients and immersing themselves in the culinary process.

This hands-on approach was not only a means to engage the residents but also an opportunity to stimulate their senses and evoke memories through the power of food.

Known for his gourmet prowess, Paul has a notable history as a Michelin Star chef and can add the honour of working at Gleneagles to his successful culinary career, as well as winning the National Chef of the Year 2023 at the Great British Care Awards.
