MORE than £12,000 has been raised for the Midlands Air Ambulances from one of Whitchurch’s biggest annual events – the Chester Road Christmas display.

The Chase household, in Chester Road, puts on a spectacular showing each year with some of the most beautiful Christmas displays you can see.

Visitors are always welcomed to view the lights and Father Christmas himself has also appeared regularly each year, with more than £10,000 raised each year.

OTHER NEWS:

Sheila Chase, a former Whitchurch Citizen of the Year, thanked all those for coming and donating to the cause, which she and husband Keith ‘are always grateful for’.

“Keith and I would like to say a huge thank you to all our supporters of our Christmas Lights Display,” she said.

“The total raised for 2023 was £12,116,46,which has now been presented to the  Midlands Air Ambulance team at Cosford.

“Hope you all have a very Happy New Year.”

Sheila added that she and her husband are always taken aback by the ‘fantastic people’ that come each year and show their generosity to the cause backed by the Chases.

She added: “We’ve raised a lot of money – we raised a bit more last year but it’s usually around this amount.

“It’s a great amount, we think but never expect anyone to give any money when they come.

“We just want to offer people the chance to have some fun when they come to see the lights and see Father Christmas.

“People donate to the lights because they want to and we’re always very grateful for everyone who does come because that’s who we do it for.

“Like any charity, people will give what they can if they want to.

“It’s a fantastic achievement from everyone to raise the money and we really appreciate people from Whitchurch and also from out of the town who come to see the lights.

“There are some great people who come to see us from up and down the country.”
