EMERGENCY services and environment officials were called to the scene of a 250-litre fuel spill in Whitchurch yesterday afternoon.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), together with the Environment Agency, the Highways Agency, Shropshire Council and a utility company, were all called out to Tesco Superstore in White Lion Meadow, at 4.13pm, on Thursday, January 11.
Two fire appliances including the Environmental Protection Unit were mobilised from Albrighton, Tweedale and Wem.
Operations and Hazmat officers were also in attendance.
A spokesperson from SFRS said: “There was an articulated lorry carrying 300 litres of diesel fuel, and has been damaged, leaking approximately 250 litres of fuel onto road and car park.
“Crews used the Environment Pod for containment purposes.”
A stop message, confirming no further assistance was needed, was sent to control at 5.37pm.
Officials have been contacted for a comment in regard to this incident.
