A TEENAGE girl is set to appear in court on Wednesday for causing the much-publicised damage to Whitchurch Cricket Club last year.

The girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, will appear at the youth court at Telford Justice Centre on Wednesday, January 10.

She is accused of causing £1,000 of damage at the Heath Road site on October 9 last year, which led to the Shropshire Cricket League club to launch a fundraising drive.

The youngster is charged with criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 with alleged damage to the clubhouse windows and doors.

Whitchurch Cricket Club was able to meet its £7,000 target to pay for the damage, with further funds released through match-funding.
