THE OWNERS of a campsite based in the Whitchurch countryside have said they are delighted after winning prestigious industry awards for the second year running.

Rose and Philip Rodenhurst own Abbey Green Farming Camping and Touring Park in Whixall and were named as Best Family Campsite and runner-up in Best Campsite in the West Midlands by website Campsites.co.uk

Rose says they were delighted with the honour, and now intend to ensure that customers have an even greater experience when they come to stay in 2024.

OTHER NEWS:

She said: “We’re really happy and incredibly proud – so very pleased with what we have done here, and with the improvements that we have made.

“It’s down to the reviews left on Campsite.co.uk and the other websites we advertise on as well as our own website which gets good reviews that push us up on Google.

“We put a lot of hard work in over the summer – it’s a family business that my mum started around 35 years ago and we have five pitches.

“We went our own way after being with the Caravan Club.

“We get to run the business how we want to run it and we know what’s important to the guests that here and we’re improving what we can do to make their time even better.

“Because we also have the bed and breakfast, sometimes the guests choose to stay there because they don’t like camping.

“It works for us that way too.

“This is reward for the service that we give – we know what works.”

Rose added that this is down to the diligence undertaken to ensure they stay ahead of their competitors and also from a desire to put Whitchurch on the map.

She added: “We know what other campsites are offering because we go to them and see, both locally and across the country, and we take bits of that and bring it in.

“We know what works for a business; for example, we’re looking to launch a vintage bike hire because the roads here are quiet.

“Whitchurch is an up-and-coming place and it’s full of great food such as Docket 33, Wild Shropshire and Etzios, among others, and we want to help businesses in the area.

“The way that we celebrate is to think about how can improve the business even more but we are pleased with the award.”
