A GROUP of fundraisers from Whitchurch raised more than £1,500 at their recent summer cheese and wine evening.

Members of the Whitchurch branch of the League of Friends to the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt (RJAH) Orthopaedic Hospital in Gobowen, held their event at Stallion AI in Chapel Field Stud on the outskirts of the town, with more than 80 guests attending.

The evening was made all the more special with an enlightening talk delivered by Tullis Matson, founder of Natures Safe, with insights into using artificial insemination techniques used by the company for species preservation.

Angela Witter, chairman of Whitchurch branch to RJAH said: "We are overwhelmed at the wonderful response we've received for this event.

“Thank you so much to Justin Beckett of Belton Cheese for donating the cheese, and to Whitchurch branch secretary, Helen Hulme, for planning and managing the evening with Tullis and Sarah Matson and, of course, to our dedicated committee and their family supporters for their never-ending hard work and support."
