A FOND farewell to a long-serving staff member and former air cadet has been made by officers in Whitchurch.
Bryony Chester joined Whitchurch Air Cadets more than 15 years ago but is now making the move to a nearby wing in Staffordshire after a change in her life.
Flight Lieutenant Mark Goddard, from Whitchurch Air Cadets (Squadron 79), paid tribute to Bryony and her family, and wished them well in the future.
He said: “Last week, on Thursday, July 27, our longest serving cadet – now staff – Bryony Chester left the squadron.
“Having joined the squadron back in 2007, Bryony has not just progressed through all cadet ranks up to cadet warrant officer – the highest cadet level possible within our wing and the air cadets.

“But she then transferred to being a staff member – she then progressed from being a civilian instructor into being an adult uniformed staff member.
“Last year, 2022, she achieved the highest accolade possible and achieved her commissioning into the Royal Air Force Air Cadets as a flying officer.
“With a change in her personal circumstances, Bryony has regretfully had to choose to move on and will now transfer to a new position within our sister wing in Staffordshire and will take over as officer commanding of another squadron.
“At the same time, we say a fond farewell to her parents – Jane and Karl – who have supported the squadron throughout her time at 79. We wish them all the best for the future.”
