A stretch of the A525 will be closed until “further notice” due to possible contamination following a lorry fire on Thursday morning (June 29).

Fire crews were called out to tackle the blaze in Bangor on Dee on Whitchurch Road at 4.30am yesterday, which resulted in the closure of the A525.

It was confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident.

A diversion has been put in place on the B5426 Straight Mile, then A528 via Overton and A539 Penley to rejoin the A525 at Eglwys Cross.

Wrexham Council had said that the diversion will be in place until the end of today (Friday, June 30) due to the resurfacing work needed on the road, but this morning there was a further update.

A spokesperson said: “The A525 will remain closed until further notice, as there is a possibility of contamination on site.”
