SOME of the group involved in the rescue of young footballers who were trapped in a cave in Thailand in 2018 visited a North Shropshire group recently.

Lee Brockhurst WI hosted Mike Clayton and Emma Porter of the Midlands Cave Rescue Association in its April meeting.

A Lee Brockhurst WI spokesperson said: "Our April meeting was our open meeting where we welcomed 28 guests.

"Our speakers were Mike Clayton and Emma Porter of the Midlands Cave Rescue Association who were both involved in the successful rescue of the young footballers who were trapped in an underground cave in Thailand in 2018.

"Their empathetic, difficult, passionate and determined miraculous efforts over many days to bring all 12 football members together with their coach out of the cave brought many of the audience to a standing applause.

"It must be noted that The Midlands Cave Rescue is supported by volunteer funding alone and many attendees made voluntary donations to the charity."
