A COMMUNITY litter pick will be held in a village near to Whitchurch next week after the first one was considered a success by participants.
The litter pick was carried out by Calverhall in Bloom on Sunday, February 19 with a further pick pencilled in for next Sunday too.
A spokesman for the group said there were one or two surprises for volunteers.
They said: “Community group Calverhall in Bloom completed the first of their two scheduled litter picks on Sunday 19th in and around the village, near Whitchurch.
“More than six bags of rubbish were collected in total by the volunteers, which included discarded cans and even an unopened 3kg jar of pickles.
“If you would like to join their next scheduled litter pick, follow their Facebook page for more details: www.facebook.com/calverhallinbloom”
Calverhall in Bloom is a not-for-profit community group that is affiliated with the Royal Horticultural Society.
Anyone wishing to take part in next week’s litter pick can do so by meeting at the bus stop in the village.
They are also looking for suggestions for any areas that are considered ‘litter heavy’.
