TWO rural businesses near Whitchurch have expressed their delight at making the shortlist in the final of the Countryside Alliance Awards 2023.
The White Lion Community Pub in Ash Magna and agricultural supplier Sherratt Farm Supplies Ltd in Whixall are currently searching for public votes in the hope of winning their respective prizes.
The Countryside Alliance Awards celebrate rural businesses which support the local economy and are known as the 'rural Oscars'.
The White Lion general manager, Shaun Embrey was pleased with the recognition the pub has received from people and is grateful to those who voted for him.

He explained: "It is nice to have that recognition from the local community.
"For people to take the time to do such a thing is humbling, it is lovely.
"It would be lovely if we could reach to the national finals, it would be an amazing achievement."
The White Lion general manager paid tribute to the village for helping the pub survive and thrive.
Shaun said: "I have been for a couple of years.
"To be here for such an award is such an acolade to the hardwork of the village."
Sherratt Farm Supplies Ltd director, Chloe Jones is pleased with the support and is hoping people will lend her their votes.
She said: "We are hoping everyone will support us. People have told us they have voted or will be voting for us."
Chloe also spoke about her excitement at the prospect of reaching final and said they will be heading to London if they get that far.
She said: "We are really excited. We get to go to the House of Lords."
This was the first time Sherratt Farm Supplies had been nominated for an award and Chloe is pleased with the recognition it's received.
She said: "It is really nice to feel appreciated in the local community to be honest.
"It has come as a complete shock to us. This is the first time we have been nominated.
"With the year we have had it makes it all a bit more worthwhile."
Sherratt Farm Supplies had been trading on the Wem Industrial Estate in Soulton Road for the last 30 years before moving to its current location in Whixall.
