FIREFIGHTERS in Wem have issued a festive warning following a callout on Boxing Day.

One crew from the town was called out to a property Mill Street in the early hours of this morning (Monday) along with a crew from Prees.

However it turned out that the incident was a false alarm due to burnt food.

The callout came at 2.52am and the property was heavily smoke logged which had to be cleared by crews.

They have since taken to social media to warn others of the dangers of leaving food unattended.

They said via Twitter: "Early Boxing Day start for crews.

"On inspection, small fire involving food in microwave, out on arrival, property heavily smoke logged and cleared by crews.
