A WHITCHURCH garage which has been praised for its cheaper prices has announced a further drop in fuel.

DA Roberts Fuel Ltd, in Grindley Brook, announced it had been able to drop the price of both petrol and diesel for motorists.

The garage has been able to reduce its petrol price to 144.9p and its diesel price to 167.9p, despite the latter continuing to rise in many garages across the UK.

The garage posted: "There is more good news to brighten your day with further price drops."

Many motorists in Whitchurch and outside the town have praised the garage for its cheaper prices at a time when many motorists across the country have been struggling with high fuel prices.

Speaking to the Whitchurch Herald earlier this year, the finance manager, Ricky Allman said the price was nice and the garage tried to keep prices as low as possible for consumers.

He explained: "It is nice to see people appreciate it because we do try to keep our prices as low as we possibly can.

"We have a set way whatever our buying price is, we have a set formula to work out our selling price.

"We try and make a little and sell a lot rather than make a lot and sell a little.

"They are really high; the high prices don't suit us.

"The actual difference we can make on the pump side is tiny in comparison to the overall price.

"The majority of it is made on VAT, duty and prices the oil refiners make.

"The actual retailers do not make a lot at all out of the actual pump price."

The garage has many customers from outside Whitchurch, and has been praised by people as far away as Oswestry.

Ricky added: "Public transport links are not great in a rural area, so you are restricted to use your car.

"We have a lot of comments on our Facebook, people saying they are travelling from Nantwich, Market Drayton and different places where they are seeing prices at 15p a litre more.

"So, it is worth them coming when it is that sort of difference."
