A MEMORIAL bench made in honour of a former mayor of Whitchurch has been installed in a park.
The bench was made to commemorate John 'Johnnie' Bates who died earlier this year in June and has been installed in Jubilee Park.
Mike McDonald, the town clerk for Whitchurch Town Council, said the bench commemorates the life of Mr Bates and the contribution he made to the town.
He added: "To commemorate the life of former mayor, John 'Johnnie' Bates and the contribution he made to our town, we have today installed a memorial bench in his honour in Jubilee Park.
"Mrs Edna Matthews is pictured here, taking some time in the sun to reflect on the life of "Mr Whitchurch", whilst enjoying our beautiful outside spaces."
