AN ELLESMERE estate is getting ready for a full month of events this August, including another of its ever-increasingly popular markets.

Oteley Estate, near the Mere, is planning an August full with events, and will be opening its gardens up to the public next weekend on Saturday, August 13.

Owners there have also announced that every Thursday, it will also host a pop-up shop and cafe.

Entry to explore the private gardens is £6 for over-16s and children go free, and both events will be open from 10am until 5pm with last entry at 3pm – free parking is available.

Clare Mainwaring, from the family team, said the free markets have something to offer for everyone, from the goods being sold to the fantastic surroundings.

She said: "Our free monthly markets are perfect for stocking up on locally made food and gifts from lots of brilliant, independent businesses.

"While you’re here, you take a stroll around the enchanting gardens that lead down to the shores of the Mere."

The pop-up shop and café, will sell homegrown meat and fresh produce, and coffee from Iron & Fire.

Caroline Louise, ethical lifestyle, wellbeing and happiness consultant will host a Wellbeing in the Woods event on Thursday, August 18.

A spokesman said: "This will include mindfulness, meditation, visualisations, journaling, reiki (provided by Reiki Master Tammy Williams), natural art activities, gentle movement and stretching, and a chance to explore the grounds of Oteley."

"The private Oteley Estate is run by Robert, Ian and Clare Mainwaring who rear cattle, sheep and pigs on their 2,000-acre farm.

"The estate has remained in the same family since the 1500s, and has gone from a fabulous country house to a hospital camp in the War.

"Now the estate is home to two herd of native breeds of British cattle – Beef Shorthorn and Highland, a small flock of sheep and some pigs.
