A GROUP that monitors health services in Shropshire has called for members of the public to have their say after "mixed feedback" on emergency medical care.

Healthwatch Shropshire and Healthwatch Telford & Wrekin is part of a network of 148 Local Healthwatch groups across England, and is supported by national organisation Healthwatch England.

The group has asked members of the public to have their say on emergency care in the county after saying that "mixed feedback" had come forward on their experience of the service.

In a joint statement, Lynn Cawley, chief officer of Healthwatch Shropshire, and Barry Parnaby, chair of Healthwatch Telford & Wrekin said: “We would still like to hear from people, including professionals who have called an ambulance for someone in their care, for example in a care home or receiving care in their own home, so that everyone's voice can help to inform the efforts being made to try and improve services.

"We want to hear from people about where things have gone well and where they have not gone so well.

"It’s an opportunity for patients and their families, as well as professionals to share their stories and tell us what is important to them in those worrying times when they need emergency help."

Emergency care across the region has come under scrutiny of late after talk of a "crisis" in the ambulance service.

Healthwatch Shropshire has a team working in community engagement, plus a volunteer programme, a visit programme to health and social care premises and an associate membership scheme to involve the public in its work.
