A TRACTOR run is going to be held in Malpas next month to raise money for two well known cancer charities.

Mary Perry was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2020 when she was only 27-years old and is holding the event on Saturday, August 20 to raise money for the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and CoppaFeel.

The run is going to be a 25-mile route which will go down into Whixall and around Whitchurch and Malpas and is expected to take around two to four hours.

Mary who owns ME Marketing and Events said she was treated in the Lingen Davies Centre in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and has wanted to help.

She explained: "I had all my treatment in the Lingen Davies Centre in Shrewsbury.

"I have been passionate since then about helping them so I have done a lot of work with the Lingen Davies Centre team.

"I have done a video with them, I think my face is on its new bus which goes round to shows.

"I am just trying to help them spread awareness.

"In the middle of Covid-19, it was not easy for them.

Whitchurch Herald: Mary receiving her treatment.

"But I had some of the best treatment, I couldn't have asked for anymore."

The 29-year old marketer said she had a clear mammogram recently.

She explained: "Technically they would say I am in remission.

"I still have to take tablets which I have to do for the next couple of years.

"I have a yearly mammogram and things like that.

"I had eight months of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery.

"I had my second clear mammogram about three or four weeks ago."

Mary said she has received donations from businesses.

She explained: "I have had an amazing response for sponsorship.

"Because I work in the industry, I have just had Kubota UK give me money, Kverneland UK who are a machinery brand located all around the world, they have donated.

"And obviously great local companies to."

The 29-year-old said she has received applications from people who want to take part in the event.

She added: "We have had upwards of 20 applications at the moment.

"But I am anticipating that we will get quite a few more.

"I would say we will probably end up with about 50 but anything else is a bonus.

"In terms of sponsorship and support, we are already looking to have raised £2,500 at the moment without all the entrants fees from everybody."
