PLANT lovers looking for a bargain can head to one of the area's most iconic spots as a popular fair makes its return next week.

The Plant Hunters' Fairs returns to Cholmondeley Castle and Gardens for its eagerly-awaited summer plant fair on Wednesday, July 13.

Martin Blow, from the Plant Hunters’ Fair, said they were looking forward to returning to what is always a popular venue for plant lovers.

He added: “Our plant fairs at Cholmondeley Castle are always popular with plant lovers.

"There will be a brilliant line-up of the best independent plant nurseries from near and far with plants to delight all garden lovers.

"It’s just the right time to pick up some summer flowering plants to give your garden a boost and the nurseries will have just the right plants to set your summer garden ablaze with colour or to add a sparkle to a shady spot.

"The plants are lovingly grown by small specialist nurseries and these enthusiastic plants people are on hand to give straightforward advice on choosing and growing the right plants for your garden."

Cholmondeley Castle has a newly replanted rose garden with more than 350 roses and the new 100-metre-long double herbaceous borders should be looking wonderful.

Martin added: "Dogs on leads are welcome and refreshments are available from the garden café or bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds."

The gardens are located between the A41 and A49 north of Whitchurch near Malpas (SY14 8HN for Satnav).

The plant fair runs from 10am-5pm and is entry by advanced purchased ticket only.

Martin added: "For this special event Cholmondeley Castle are offering a special reduced entry price of just £4.50 (normally £8.50) to the wonderful gardens and the plant fair, so why not give yourself a midweek treat?"
