POLICE officers have criticised protestors campaigning against fuel prices in Shropshire.
Campaigners held a protest on the M54 this morning, travelling in slow convoy on the motorway between Junctions 1 and 4, from 7am until 8.30am.
However, West Mercia Police have said the tactics used by some compromised the safety of other road users.
A spokesperson said: "“Unfortunately the tactics used by some protesters today compromised the safety of other road users.
“Officers gathered evidence during the event and we will take action against those who committed road traffic offences.
“The ability to protest is a fundamental part of democracy, however, when protests start to endanger the public and put the safety of others at risk, appropriate and proportionate action will be taken.

“We apologise for any disruption caused this morning and thank the public for their patience and co-operation.”
Warnings of disruption had been made ahead of the protests which are taking place on motorways up and down the country as they call for a cut in fuel duty.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak has said he will carefully consider calls for a “more substantial” fuel duty cut after the 5p per litre reduction implemented in March failed to halt price rises.
