A bomb squad was called out to a north Shropshire factory on Wednesday night after a a suspicious package was found on the site.

Officers were called after the package was discovered in the Muller site in Market Drayton at 8pm on Wednesday, June 15.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said bomb disposal experts attended the scene and thanked the public for their patience.

He added: "Officers responded to a genuine concern for safety after a suspicious package was discovered at the Muller site in Market Drayton, Shropshire, yesterday evening just after 8.00pm.

"As you can understand, we had to take every suitable precaution whilst bomb disposal experts from Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) attended the scene.

"The package was discovered to contain a broken electronic smoking device (vape), and possessed no risk to the public or our officers.

"We would like to thank the public for their patience whilst the road was closed, allowing us to deal with the situation quickly."
