A PENLEY school celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations over three days, much to pupils' delight.

Madras Primary School, in Overton Road, held their Jubilee celebrations on Wednesday, June 8, Thursday, June 9 and Friday, June 10 and pupils were able to enjoy a range of Jubilee-themed activities and games.

Mrs S Evans, from Madras School, said children enjoyed a street party among other activities.

She added: "Children learned all about the Queen, acted out key points of her life, researched the countries that the Queen is head of state and delivered a presentation to their class.

"They also took part in online quizzes about the Queen, designed stamp profiles, made flags, crowns and bunting and baked cakes fit for a Queen.

"There were old favourite games, such as marbles and hopscotch and some new additions, such as pin the tail on the corgi.

"The events came to a head on Friday, when all of the children and staff dressed in either red, white and blue, or as a King or Queen, and paraded around the village, waving their Union Jack flags.

"Large crowds turned out to support the children en-route and even passing traffic entered into the spirit of the day, waiting with good humour and much waving, which the children loved.

"Back at school, the whole school enjoyed a street party at lunchtime, followed by some dancing and games in the field."
