A FORMER councillor will be presented with the title of 'Honorary Townsman' as Whitchurch Town Council holds its monthly meeting

Alan Chesters, is being presented with the title for his service and commitment to the town council at the meeting which will take place on Thursday, June 16 in the Civic Centre.

The meeting will be the first full Whitchurch Town Council meeting since Councillor Andy Hall and Cllr Rose Hall were elected mayor and deputy mayor respectively last month and financial matters and ongoing vacancies will be among matters discussed in the meeting.

Whitchurch Town Council will receive an update on activity undertaken by the mayor since the previous meeting.

Minutes of all resolutions from council meeting which took place on Thursday, April 21 have been completed.

Members of the public will be invited to speak and ask questions and it is expected there will be a local policing update.

Town councillors will be considering applications for current vacancies from people who want to serve on Whitchurch Town Council.

The council also intend to use the evening to establish a governance and scrutiny working group.

Financial matters will be discussed with the council expected to note the progress being made by the accounts officer and up-to-date financial management information is expected to be presented at the next council meeting.

The public meeting will end and will be followed by confidential discussions.
