SINCE taking over as MP for North Shropshire, Helen Morgan has met as many of her constituents as she can, though Friday proved to be a little different.

Mrs Morgan took a trip to the Clivewood Alpaca Farm, between Wem and Shrewsbury, where she met most of the 50-strong herd that live at the farm.

She was shown around by owners Carolina and Ian Oakes and was given an insight into all the challenges and the benefits of their farm.

Mrs Morgan said she enjoyed visiting the farm and learning more about what challenges owners face.

She said: "Clivewood Farm is a great example of innovation in rural North Shropshire.

"Alpacas are friendly and inquisitive animals."

She also commented that the farm is a perfect example of "a combination of business, industry and tourism".

Mrs Morgan added: "I am always looking for ways to get out and about speaking to local businesses and constituents across North Shropshire.

"Representing an area like ours means getting out at the farm gate, the school gate and the garden gate to hear from people."

Becci Underwood, the herd manager, showed the MP the whole process of turning alpaca wool into high quality local products and knitwear, including their collection of mills in their weaving workshop.
