WHITCHURCH Alport have completed a transfer coup with the signing of former Newtown star Jordan Evans.

A deal in principle has been agreed which will see Evans officially join the club on July 1 when the former Wrexham and Wales youngster will link up with his new team-mates at the Midland Premier League club.

Evans came through Wrexham Football Club’s s academy from the age of 10 before making a move to Fulham in 2015 and made six appearances for Wales at under 21 level.

After a loan spell with Oxford United and a Wembley appearance in the JPT trophy final defeat to Barnsley in the 2016 he was released by the Cottagers.

Evans returned to hometown club Wrexham in the English National League before joining JD Cymru side Bala Town and going on to have spells at Cefn Druids, Airbus UK Broughton and latterly Newtown.

The 26-year-old won the Welsh Cup win Bala Town in 2017 while also helped Newtown into Europe last season and represented the mid Wales club in the Europa Conference.

He departed Latham Park after 46 appearances and 13 goals in January.

A club statement read: “Jordan will add much needed experience and quality, and hopefully some goals, to Luke Goddard’s squad for the upcoming season and we can’t wait to unleash him onto opposing teams.”
