THE ladies of Ellesmere and District Flower Club were delightfully intrigued and much engaged in the unusual title of “Lipstick, Powder and Paint” when NAFAS National demonstrator Lorena Dyer.

Lorena, from Coventry, visited to stage her excellent flower demonstration in at their monthly meeting held on the evening of April 28 in Ellesmere Town Hall.

A spokesman said: "Lorena gave a most interesting and entertaining insight into her creative skills using colourful and attractive designs and she was thanked by chairman Sylvia Williams.

"The hostess for the evening was Ruth Clarke and the teas and homemade biscuits were kindly provided by new members Alix and Carey Rogers.

"The lucky raffle winners were Betty Bennett, Beryl Bradshaw, Alix Rogers, Myfi Jones, Hazel Aspen, Vera Butler, Phyllis Dean, Mary Goulbourne and Sue Edwards.

Club members and visitors were encouraged to support the local NAFAS Area Day which includes four floral demonstrations and entertainment by Britain's Got Talent Neil Hurst on Monday, June 13 in Cockshutt Village Hall from 10am to 3.30pm.

Tickets on the day are available on the door at £20.

The Flower Club continue their diamond anniversary year programme with their next meeting to be held on Thursday, May 26 at 7.30pm in the Ellesmere Town Hall when NAFAS Cheshire Area demonstrator Kate Russell from Wirral will demonstrate.

Tickets on the door £5 – all welcome.
