THE vote for a new mayor and deputy mayor and planning will be on the agenda for Wem Town Council's annual meeting.

The meeting will take place in Edinburgh House, New Street on Thursday, May 26 and will begin with a new mayor being appointed for the year 2022 to 2023.

The appointment of the new deputy mayor will be followed by appointments of town councillors to committees and of representatives to outside bodies including RAF Shawbury Liaison Group and Wem Scouts HQ Committee.

The evening will also involve looking into planning applications which are being considered and noting recent decisions made by Shropshire Council.

In addition, the Platinum Jubilee and the Recreation Ground will be discussed.

The public meeting will conclude with dates being set for future meetings.
