AN OAK tree has been planted in a field in Whitchurch for the upcoming Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The tree was planted at the Queensway Playing Fields to celebrate the Queen's 70 years on the throne, and it joins another which was planted in 1977 to celebrate her Silver Jubilee.
A spokesman said the tree was donated to them for the ceremony.
He added: "Queensway Playing Fields have planted an oak tree to commemorate the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

"The tree was donated by Sarah Pierce who is the daughter of one of the committee members.
"There is already a tree on the playing field that was planted to celebrate the Silver Jubilee as well as many established trees and the community orchard.
"Queensway Playing Fields is a charity run entirely by volunteers."
Across the UK, trees have been planted as part of the Queen's Green Canopy (QGC) to mark the Jubilee.
