Roads around Whitchurch are to get new surfaces in the latest stage of Shropshire Council's resurfacing roll-out.

The council said 43 stretches of road will be resurfaced, of which 18 will be in north Shropshire in the 2022 to 2023 financial year. It follows the resurfacing of nearly 50 stretches of road between November 2021 and April 2022.

Roads around Whitchurch that are in line for resurfacing work include the Whitchurch bypass around the Chester Road roundabout.

Here's the full list of roads around Whitchurch getting the resurfacing treatment:

  • A41 from Bletchley Dual End to Upper College junction; Prees
  • B5476 – Tilstock 30mph North to 30mph South
  • A49 – A41 Chester Road Roundabout to Hinton Bank Roundabout
  • C2002 – Alkington Road, Whitchurch
  • C1029 – Hordley to Tetchill
  • U3002 - Sandy Lane, Four Alls (off A529); Sutton upon Tern

Dean Carroll, cabinet member for highways, said the unitary authority are committed to improving roads and making them safer.

Cllr Carroll added: "We are committed to improving our roads and making them safer for all road users.

"Our annual resurfacing programme is an important part of this and represents a significant investment in the county’s roads.

"It will greatly improve stretches of roads across Shropshire and help to prevent potholes and other problems occurring in the future.

Shropshire Council will be working alongside companies, Kier and WSP to complete the project.
