THE new mayor of Ellesmere has been confirmed by the town council.
Councillor Anne Wignall was confirmed as the new mayor at the council's annual town meeting last week, stepping up from deputy which she has been for the last three years.
She succeeds Cllr Paul Goulbourne, who steps after an extended period because of Covid-19, and she will be assisted as deputy by Cllr Graham Hutchinson.

A town council spokesman said: "Councillor Anne Wignall was elected as mayor of Ellesmere at Thursday's night's annual Town Council meeting.
"Anne will be supported by her newly-appointed deputy mayor Cllr Graham Hutchinson.
"Congratulations to you both."
