ONE OF Whitchurch's most popular venues has added to its options of plenty of family fun with the arrival of an 'escape island'.

Alderford Lake, in Tilstock Road, introduced its aquapark in 2021 and it has now added the escape island challenge for those not 'faint of heart'.

The venue, a popular destination for walkers and open water swimmers, is preparing for the opening of the park to visitors from June 1 till September 25 for adults and children aged six and over.

Edina Jones, from Alderford, said it will be a place for families to enjoy themselves.

She added: "Our impressive 120 person aqua-park offers an incredible, exhilarating experience for all the family with exciting new additions for 2022.

"Climb, jump and bounce at Alderford’s inflatable playground on the lake.

"Race your friends and family: who will be the first to be wiped out?

"Get wet and go wild, beat the obstacles. Suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over.

"Slip, slide, climb, splash and have a laugh on our exciting features, including our epic 3.8m inflatable tower, Mount Rainier."

The challenge consists of four islands, the Wilderness, the Catch, the Medallion and the Captive.

Edina explained the concept behind the challenge and what visitors will be able to expect.

She said: "An escape room like you have never experienced before.

"A voyage across the lake to uncover mysteries and find your way back to shore.

"A totally outdoor experience, only for the brave hearted.

"On a voyage across stormy waters, your boat is cast ashore.

"In need of repair, vital parts of the boat are scattered throughout the overgrown island.

"But as you explore the wilderness, you soon realise it has been inhabited before.

"The Catch holds many myths and tales about the lost fisherman and his catch.

"No one has been brave enough to step foot on the island to see if the tales are true.

"Will you and your friends be the ones to solve the mystery, or will you be lost too?"
