A TRADITIONAL two-day country fair will be taking place this month.

Marbury Merry Days will be taking place on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15 in Marbury, Cheshire.

This is a family event and the proceeds will go towards the upkeep of St Michael's Church.

The event will include an American Civil War re-enactment and a flypast to remember the Battle of Britain.

A spokesman for the fair said: "The main attraction this year will be the popular re-enactment group, The American Civil War Society.

"The special event will be a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster Bomber on Saturday at 2.30pm and on Sunday at 1.15pm.

"The Fun Dog Show will take place on Sunday with entries on the day from midday on the Church Terrace, and a Gundog Scurry will be held on the main field.

"Music will be provided on Sunday by the Wirral Pipe Band.

"The delightful Pinxton Puppets will be with us again and they will give three shows each day.

"Other attractions include a climbing wall, bouncy castles, a floral display and organ music in the Church, model aircraft flying, a children’s activity area, classic cars, side shows, stalls selling pre loved clothing, plants and cakes, Craft & Gift Fair marquees and trade stands.

"Refreshments are available from the Tea Tent, Bacon Bap stall, Ice Cream stand and Cygnet Bar. The Grand Draw will take place on Sunday with a top prize of £200 and lots of other prizes."

Gates open at 12.30pm.

Admission for adults is £5 and £1 for children under 16.

Children under 16 can get in for free with an adult.

Dogs are welcome and car parking is free.
