AN ACOUSTIC show paying homage to the greatest songwriters, including George Harrison and Don McLean, will be coming to Wem this month.

Dan Haynes' Songwriters show will be performed in Wem Town Hall, in High Street on Friday, May 20 in which Dan will pay tribute to the Beatles star and the singer of the song American Pie.

He will also pay tribute to singers, Ben Howard, Damien Rice and Bon Iver

Ian Kerry, executive director at Arts Alive, said the event will be a stunning acoustic performance.

He added: "Whether it’s in a cosy folk club still lost in the sixties, or a modern-day arena pulsing with energy, a great song never fails to capture and transport an audience.

"In this debut show, Dan Haynes, along with good friend Jonny Knight, pay tribute to a host of songwriter legends.

"This is set to be a stunning acoustic performance of music from song-writing legends and contemporary icons."

The show received five-star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and BBC Radio called it 'absolutely stunning'.

The show is suitable for people 18 and over.

Tickets are £13 for adults and £11 for under 18s.
