A TABLE-TOP sale held at an Ellesmere venue in aid of Ukrainian refugees has raised hundreds of pounds.

The sale, organised by the Mere Cafe, which provides vegan and vegetarian food as well as a book shop and offering eco refills, was held at the Comrades Club in Victoria Street, last Saturday.

Organisers from the cafe were delighted with all the help and support received, and says more fundraising events are planning in future.

A spokesman said: "Thank you to everyone who attended the Rummage Sale on Saturday to raise money for Ukraine.

"More than £600 was raised and monies are still coming in.

"The grand total will be donated at the end of this week to the Red Cross Medical Supplies for Ukraine fund.

"We plan to do a car boot sale in the next few weeks with the remaining items the proceeds which will also be donated to the Red Cross for Ukraine.

"A massive and heartfelt special thanks to the amazing friends and customers of the Mere Cafe who had the idea for this sale one miserable Monday morning over coffee and then worked together to pull it off so successfully.

"We are proud to know you."
