A MALPAS pub owner has contributed money to a Cheshire foodbank and scout group.

The Lion, Old Hall Street, is owned by Bear Inns, which has donated £750 to Middlewich and District Foodbank and £250 to the First Goostrey Scouts.

The Middlewich and District Foodbank works closely with GPs, schools and local councils to prevent hunger and the First Goostrey Scouts provide recreational opportunities for young people.

Woody Barlow, director of Bear Inns, said the foodbank is doing incredible work.

He added: "Middlewich Foodbank do incredible work in our area by providing food and drink to families who need it most and, particularly at such a difficult time for many, we want to support them in doing so.

"The life skills and experiences you get from the scouts stay with you forever and we wanted to help the Goostrey troop continue to enjoy these opportunities."

Nicky Harris, Middlewich district and project manager, said the donation made a difference.

He added: "We simply couldn’t do the work we do without the generous support and donations we receive from local people and companies.

"We are hugely grateful for this financial donation from Bear Inns, it makes all the difference to our charity."
