A MALPAS born woman is walking around Wales to raise money for a refugee charity.

Rachel Dimelow is taking a three month sabbatical to walk the perimeter of Wales to raise money for the Welsh Refugee Council and to awareness for refugees making Wales their new home.

Rachel will set out from Chester and trek 870 miles down the Welsh Coast Path and she hopes to hike up Offers Dike and return home.

Rachel "dedicated" her journey to refugees displaced and praised the Welsh Refugee Council for supporting refugees and asylum seekers who land in Wales.

She said: "We are so aware in this moment of the growing number of people leaving their homes in Ukraine.

"My jaunt is incomparable to the stress and uncertainty these refugees face, so my journey will be dedicated to these displaced individuals and families.

"So, I will use my expedition to raise money for the Welsh Refugee Council, who provide fantastic support for refugees & asylum seekers arriving in Wales."

The Welsh Refugee Council was founded in 1990 by a group of refugees and politicians and has been supporting refugees since then.
