THE MP for North Shropshire has thanked constituents and volunteers as she marked 100 days since she was first elected.

The Liberal Democrat MP said since she was elected in a by-election in December 2021 following the resignation of Owen Paterson, she has been raising awareness about the closure of local services and criticised the Government for "decimating" rural services.

She said: "Under this Conservative government, rural services have been completely decimated.

"Communities across North Shropshire are seeing vital local services closed.

"I met with the Government and urged them to do all they can to keep vital local services such as the Whitchurch driving test centre open. "Unfortunately, my calls fell on deaf ears."

Ms Morgan said tackling the ambulance crisis in Shropshire was one of her big priorities and that she has raised the issue in Parliament with the Health Secretary, Sajid Javid and has now secured a Parliamentary debate on the matter.

She added: "From the moment I was elected I made tackling Shropshire’s ambulance crisis one of my big priorities.

"The first time I ever spoke in the House of Commons was to urge the Prime Minister to do more to solve this crisis.

"Since then, I’ve raised the issue with the Health Secretary and urged the Government to provide the relevant funding and at least get round the table to help understand the problems and solve this issue.

"Unfortunately, the Health Secretary is still refusing my requests to meet with him.

"I even bought the issue to the top of the Liberal Democrats and helped pass the ambulances motion at conference.

"My party are firmly committed to doing all they can to prevent this crisis.

"I am proud to say that my first 100 days has ended with a debate being brought forward into Parliament this Thursday on ambulance services in Shropshire."

The issue of farming is a key policy area for Ms Morgan and she said they were not getting a "fair deal."

She added: "Shropshire’s farmers simply aren’t getting a fair deal from this government.

"They are being thrown under the bus to satisfy our governments cheap trade deals.

"That is why in Parliament I have being doing everything I can to help them.

"I have backed my colleague Tim Farron’s Farming Trade Agreement bill which would give me and my Parliamentary colleagues the power to scrutinise trade deals.

"I have also tabled a motion in Parliament that calls on more support for our county’s pig farmers.

"I’m proud to say it got cross party support."

Ms Morgan has a brand-new constituency office in Wem which will be officially opening soon.
