A NEW X-ray machine has been officially unveiled at a Whitchurch Community Hospital to the delight of townsfolk.

The official opening was held on Thursday, March 25 and the machine was officially presented by Dr Judith Clayton who is president of the Friends of the Whitchurch Hospital.

The machine has replaced a "very old and well used unit."

Friends of the Whitchurch Hospital raised £160,000 for the new machine and the organisation thanked donors for their support.

Rosemary Powell from the Friends group said: "We would like to thank everybody who supported the Friends through their charity work and donations.

"The machine has been successfully used and has been for quite a while.

"It is very efficient, I think within about five seconds, they get a read out.

"It is saving patients the journey to Telford and Shrewsbury."
